State Open and B Grade Singles and Doubles 2023

Saturday and Sunday 18th 19th June 2023

State Open and B Grade Doubles

Saturday commenced with the Open and B Grade men’s and ladies doubles.

Darts Connect was used for the first time at this kind of event.  Nominations had to be manually entered and going forward pre-nomination would speed up the process. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the Open Ladies doubles, which Darts Connect later apologized for so the ladies used the old fashioned method.

Ladies B Grade Doubles saw 8 pairs compete.  Following the round robin the ladies moved straight to semi-finals.

Semi-finals

The men’s final.  This was one for the books, Lionel started off like a steam train and took the first 4 legs before Howard even got a chance at a double, Howard then took the next 2 legs to make the game score 4-2.  Lionel hit back with another winning leg followed by 3 on the trot from Howard.  The game score was now 5-5 and it still looked like anybody’s game.  Both players missed chances at the double to take out the match but Lionel pegged the winning double to claim victory.

There were 109 180’s we hit over the weekend with Carl Caton hitting the most with 9.
