2017 Junior State Teams Announced

Today Darts W.A. announced the Junior State teams to travel to Geelong, Victoria in January to participate in the Junior Australian Championships.

The State trials consisted of singles, doubles and teams events.

The boys’ competition was of a high standard from the very first dart with players showing they were there to compete for a place in the team. It was very satisfying to watch these young players giving their all in a very sportsmanlike manner. Because of the tight competition some players will feel disappointed but all 12 players showed they are future champions in the making. This, of course, is a very good sign for the future of the sport. Bobby McKeig from Bunbury was named first and was followed by Mark (M.J.) Gray from Bunbury, Dylan Wilson from South Suburban and Tyler Sutherland from Port Kennedy. The named reserve is Alec McEvoy from Perth.

In the girls’ trials the standard showed that there needs to be a lot of hard work put in between now and January but the selectors felt confident that the players named have the ability and the time to lift their level of play by then. The team named is McKenzie Maunsell-Namana from Dongara, Dakota Van Vugt, Leschenault, Sarrah Larwood, Bunbury, Jai Milne Langford and Reserve is Brinley Tregoning Bunbury. All players showed heart and determination in their approach to the game and are to be congratulated on the effort they gave. A truly inspiring weekend.
